Hospitals are not fun. They can make people sad. But a woman in the U.S. is making hospitals nicer. She helps people who are very sick.

Is she a doctor? No, she's an artist. She paints big pictures on the hospital walls. The paintings look like open windows. They are not real windows. But they look real.

Pictures of nature are outside the windows. One picture shows a river. Other pictures show green grass, pretty flowers, and trees. The artist also paints roads outside every window.

Narrator: Taiwan is getting its first rocket launch site! Rockets going to
space will be launched from there.
台灣將要蓋第一座火箭發射場，之後可以從這裡發射火箭到太空。
Scientists looked at many places. They thought very hard. They needed to find
the best place.
科學家考慮過許多地點，想找個最好的。
What things make a good launch site? One: the place is big. Two: it is far
from places with many people. Three: it has no animals that must be kept
safe. Four: it is easy to build on.

They chose a small village in Pingtung. This place has all of the things for
a good launch site. It is perfect for rocket launches!

The Taiwan International Balloon Festival

air balloon?

That's right! The Taiwan International Balloon Festival starts on July fifth.
Hot air balloons from all over the world will come to Taitung.
沒錯! 7 月 5 號就是台灣的熱氣球節! 台東可以看見世界各地的熱氣球。
You have to get up very early for the festival opening. It starts at five
thirty in the morning! Lots of big, colorful hot air balloons will take off
to the sky.

In the early mornings and early evenings, you can see hot air balloon shows.
You can ride some of the balloons then too!

World Masters Games Coming to Taiwan

Let the games begin! This year, the World Masters Games will be in Taiwan!
It's the world's biggest event with many sports. It's every four years. And this is the first time it's in Asia!
世界壯年運動會規模很大，四年舉辦一次，今年第一次辦在亞洲，就在台灣!
This event has 35 sports. Some are team sports, like baseball, basketball,soccer, and volleyball. Some are for one or two athletes, like golf, judo,karate, sailing, surfing, and table tennis. They will be played in six cities, in 69 places!
總共有 35種運動，有籃球、足球、排球等團體運動，也有高爾夫、柔道、空手道、帆船、衝浪和桌球等運動，總共在6 個城市 69 個場地進行!
Almost 26,000 athletes will come. More than 6,000 athletes will come from other countries.
大概 2 萬 6 千個運動員報名，其中 6 千多個是國際運動員。
Most athletes are 30 years old or older. The oldest is a badminton player from Taiwan. He's 103 years old! He fits the motto for this year's games: "Sports beyond age, life without limits."
大部分選手超過 30 歲，年紀最大的是 103 歲的台灣羽球員，正好符合比賽口號：「壯年來運動，人生無極限！」
Athletes don't play for a country. They play for themselves. They can make teams with athletes from other countries too.
這些運動員不代表國家，而是以自己的名義參賽，他們也可以和各地的運動員組隊。

But wait! There's a new law! Hotels in Taiwan used to give you some free things. But now, they can't. Those are the things you throw away after using them one time.
咦...等等！新法規上路，台灣的飯店不再提供用過就扔的物品。
This law started on January 1st. Hotels can't give you toothbrushes, combs,or shower caps. Bring your own! And now hotels are using big bottles for shampoo and soap. They fill the bottles again and again. Goodbye, cute mini bottles!
