Critical Hope and Climate Action
The students of ENS 380: Critical Hope and Climate Action are staging a walkout for sustainability and climate action on Thursday, April 9th from 1pm-2pm at the Clocktower on Allendale's campus. The purpose of the walkout is to bring attention to the lack of meaningful focus on sustainability in the Reach Higher Together strategic plan; the lack of funding, personnel, and decision-making power in the Office of Sustainability; the lack of consideration of the sustainability and climate implications of GVSU's AI endeavors; and more. Please see additional points in the walkout information document below.
Join us in voicing our concerns that GVSU is not treating the threat of climate change and ecological collapse as what it is - the most pressing and threatening challenge of our time. Student speakers will present their concerns, share their vision of GVSU as a leader for environmental sustainability in Michigan, and inspire the student body to action.
Want to help? Read the list of student concerns and demands and sign your name in support. Distribute the link to this website and the walkout flyer throughout your classes and GVSU networks. Then join us on Thursday, April 9th from 1pm-2pm at the Clocktower on Allendale's campus.
Questions, comments, and suggestions to strengthen the list of demands can be sent to williarj@mail.gvsu.edu.
