The GVSU Student Environmental Coalition, or S.E.C., is one of the oldest registered student organizations on campus. Records indicate S.E.C.'s presence on campus as early as 2007. In 2007, S.E.C., along with other Western Michigan college students, attended Powershift, the first national youth summit to discuss global warming, in Washington, D.C. In the past, we've held weekly meetings, cleanups, fundraisers, career talks, and collaborated with other colleges in the region!
Hello! We are the Environmental Coalition on campus, and we host regular sustainability workshops and events for both the diehard environmentalists and those who just want to learn how to live a more earth-friendly lifestyle. Anyone and Everyone is welcome! We also host multiple environmentally related volunteer events and opportunities throughout the semester, such as Zero-Waste football games, campus clean-ups, group hikes, facility tours (industrial compost facility tour, landfill tour, water-to-energy tour), and we provide networking and friendship opportunities to meet other like-minded, sustainability-focused peers and colleagues!Â
We post most of our updates and events via Instagram, Lakerlink, and email! Hope to see you soon!
