Kimberly Vincent-Layton, Designer/Educational Developer

Kimberly Vincent-Layton is a Designer/Educational Developer in the Center for Teaching and Learning, and a Lecturer in the Department of Communication at Humboldt State University (HSU). She is currently in her 19th year at HSU where she previously received her Bachelor's in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations, a Master's in Business Administration, and a Certificate for Faculty Preparation in Higher Education. Kim continues her learning in her current doctoral program in Instructional Systems and Technology at Indiana, Bloomington. Kim is passionately and actively engaged in cultivating relationships that inspire evidence-based practices through learning communities, the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), and the exploration and innovative application of pedagogies and technologies. Kim has been the CSU Quality Assurance Campus lead at Humboldt and currently leads the CSU Canvas Common Interest Group, a community of learners engaged in using Canvas and related technologies to support learning and teaching. In her free time, Kim loves to travel, write and be outdoors cycling, hiking, and swimming with her partner and three daughters.

How can a new technology, like Canvas, open the world of teaching and learning beyond the physical classroom? Together, we will explore ways to inspire, innovate, and impact through the intersection of teaching, learning, and Canvas/Canvas related technologies.
