It is the mark of a truly intelligent person to be moved by statistics.
AP Statistics is an introductory college-level statistics course focused on learning how to formulate statistical questions, collect data, analyze data, and interpret results.
Throughout the year, we will use real-world data, technology, investigations, simulations, collaborative activities, and statistical reasoning to answer meaningful questions.
The goal isn't simply to calculate an answer. It's to understand what the data tell us, why our methods are appropriate, and what conclusions we can reasonably make.
AP Statistics has been redesigned by College Board beginning with the 2026–2027 school year.
The revised course places greater emphasis on the complete statistical problem-solving process:
Formulate Questions → Collect Data → Analyze Data → Interpret Results
The course has also been reorganized from the previous nine-unit structure into five units, allowing us to spend more time developing statistical reasoning, communication, and understanding.
Throughout the year, we will also prepare for a newly redesigned AP Statistics Exam that students will take in May 2027.
Throughout the course, you will develop four important statistical practices:
Ask meaningful statistical questions that can be answered using data.
Determine how data should be collected through sampling, experiments, studies, and simulations.
Select and apply appropriate statistical methods, representations, and technology.
Use evidence from data to communicate conclusions in context.
These practices will appear throughout the entire course and on the AP Statistics Exam.
Beginning in May 2027, the AP Statistics Exam will be fully digital. Students will complete both multiple-choice and free-response questions in the Bluebook testing application.

Multiple-choice questions will have four answer choices and will include both individual questions and sets of questions based on shared information.
4 Questions | 90 Minutes | 50% of Exam Score
Each free-response question will be worth 10 points and will assess students' ability to formulate questions, collect and analyze data, conduct statistical inference, and interpret results.
Students may use an approved handheld graphing calculator. Desmos will also be available within Bluebook.
Statistics is a course where asking questions, discussing ideas, and learning from mistakes are part of the process.
If something doesn't make sense, don't wait until the test to ask for help.

You don't have to understand everything immediately. You do have to stay engaged in the process.
