FAQ: What if I'm not intern-ready until Phase 3?

You can still be an intern! Candidates can start TIP in Phase 3. Please keep in mind that some candidates may need 2 semesters to complete Phase 3 while being an intern.

TIP provides specific and dedicated supplemental supports for interns:

  • Twice the amount of University Coach Support
  • Dedicated advisor

FAQ: Are there any disadvantages to being an intern?

There are 2 important things to consider:

  1. As in intern, you will receive an intern-level salary. 12% of your salary will go directly to the Teacher Internship Program.
  2. You will have all duties of a fully credentialed teacher. Completing as an intern can be intense and challenging!

FAQ: Why does Fresno State take a percentage of my intern salary?

A small flat rate goes toward paying for the extra supports and services provided to interns: the weekly coaching sessions as well as a dedicated intern advisor. This flat rate can be paid by the employing school district or comes out of the intern's salary.

FAQ: Can I be a STP or PIP instead of an intern for Phase 3?

That depends. Your district has to provide special permission. Please see the intern advisor for more information.

FAQ: Do I still have to complete all the program courses?

YES. ALL teachers in the state of California must complete an accredited program. Sometimes, it takes interns more than one semester to complete all coursework and clinical requirements.
