Mentorship Opportunities
Do you need to be in my class, part of my lab, or a member of Psi Chi/Psychology Club to receive mentorship from me? You are welcome to seek mentorship regardless of your involvement in my classes, research lab, or Psi Chi/Psychology Club. However, I encourage all psychology majors to consider joining the Psi Chi/Psychology Club. As the incoming faculty advisor for this student club, I will have the chance to interact with you and your fellow psychology major students during meetings and events. Learn more about Psi Chi/Psychology Club.
I teach a limited number of classes each semester, which means I may not have the opportunity to interact with many of our students in a classroom setting. Furthermore, while joining my research lab can be beneficial, it is not the best fit for everyone’s schedule or academic goals. Learn more about the PREPARE Lab. As the incoming advisor for Psi Chi/Psychology Club, I strongly advocate for joining this group to connect with a community of peers, each of whom brings something unique to the table based on their academic performance, interests, and diverse backgrounds and experiences. Psi Chi/Psychology Club will provide a unique space for peer mentorship and faculty mentorship.
What does mentorship look like? Every mentorship relationship is tailored to meet your unique needs. Whether you require weekly check-ins to stay accountable, guidance on academic and career decisions, assistance with professional documents like resumes and cover letters, or advice on time management and volunteer opportunities, I am here to help. You do not need to have all the answers or a clear direction—part of what a mentor does is help you explore and define your path.
How long does mentorship last? The duration of our mentorship can range from a single conversation to a lasting advisory relationship spanning months or even years. It all depends on what you hope to achieve and the value we both contribute to the relationship.
