This site will help you be informed of the schedule during our 2024 Summer Residency happening on and around our Fresno State campus, Tuesday, June 25 to Friday, June 28, 2024

The purpose of the Summer Residency activities is to support interpersonal interaction for students in the online delivery option. These residencies are designed to provide opportunities for co-curricular learning and meetings with students and faculty. This site will help you be informed of the 2024 Summer Residency schedule.

The theme this year is "Scholar-Leaders in Community: Educational Leadership for Social Justice"

Academic spaces can sometimes make us feel unheard, invalidated, or unsupported, and we must consciously nurture connections to sustain us. We have the opportunity to define our community and find folks we can depend on to share, laugh, criticize, empathize, organize, collaborate, and commiserate with. Summer Residency is a time to strengthen our individual capacities while recognizing the significance of community. Together, we will achieve our goals by uplifting one another and celebrating our collective persistence.

Welcome! Check in to your hotel around 4pm

We are excited to begin the 2024 Summer Residency with our opening reception at the Hilton Garden Inn. Please arrive promptly at 5:30 pm and come ready to mix and mingle. Dinner and beverages will be served.

Wednesday, June 26

9:00 am - 9:50 am: Breakfast with the KSOEHD Leaders

Location: Fresno State Kremen Building at ED 360

Before a full day of coursework and learning, start off with an energizing breakfast with Kremen School of Education and Human Development Leaders

What's for Breakfast?

Scrambled Eggs topped with Shredded Cheese; Saugage; Breakfast Potatoes; Flour tortillas; Fruit Bowls; Assorted Pastries; and Chef choice Vegan option
Beverage: Iced Tea; Ice Water; and Coffee

10:00 am - 1:00 pm: Online Cohort Class Time

All classes will be on the third floor of the Kremen School of Education and Human Development. Rooms are indicated with the abbreviation "ED" followed by the room number.

Cohort 7: EDL 580T Dissertation Writing Seminar with Dr. Van Horn will meet in ED 360.

Cohort 8: EDL 508 Theories of Cross-Cultural Education with Dr. Pryor will meet in ED 404.

1:30 – 4:00 pm: Lunch & Learn with Dr. Rebecca Cheung

Location: Fresno State Kremen Building at ED 390

Dinner on your own

Get together with your cohort-mates and use the provided meal vouchers to enjoy dinner at one of the on-campus options open until 6:30 pm. More information is on the Food and Entertainment page.

Thursday, June 27

9:00 – 9:50 am: Optional Professional Headshots

Location: In front of Kremen Building

Come take an updated professional headshot photo with our professional photographer.

10:00 am - 1:00 pm: Online Cohort Class Time

Cohort 7: EDL 580T Dissertation Writing Seminar with Dr. Van Horn will meet in ED 360.

Cohort 8: EDL 502 Educational Reform with Dr. Yi will meet in ED 404.

1:00 pm - 3:00 pm: Lunch on Your Own

Use one of the provided meal vouchers to enjoy lunch at an on-campus restaurant. More information is on the Food and Entertainment page.

3:00 pm – 5:00 pm: Keynote Speaker with Teresita Alvarez-Cortez

10:00 am - 11:15 pm Dissertation Advisor Meetings (Cohort 7) and QE Prep Meeting (Cohort 8)

Cohort 7: Meetings will be arranged with dissertation advisors.
Cohort 8: QE Prep Meeting with Dr. Ignacio Hernández in ED 404.

11:30 am - 2:00 pm Lunch & Learn with Dr. Erica Silva
