Introduction

This website documents the discoveries of our digital humanities study abroad trip in London, where we drew connections between the history of early 20th century London, the works of creatives from the Bloomsbury Group, and the concrete environment of modern London.  Through the use of archival material, images, and literature, this website seeks to demonstrate the ways in which digital humanities can foster a unique mode of learning. This site seeks to capture a glimpse of the ways in which we interacted with the works of the Bloomsbury group writers, artists, political theorists, and activists. We visited exhibitions, museums, galleries, and plays within London to experience the modern day developments and representations of the influential figures and artists that we encountered in our studies. These connections were crucial for us to visualize the impact of the relationships identified in the archives we explored, and allowed us to expand on our findings. Feel free to navigate through our Google Maps outline of our visits, archival analytical essays, as well as images of our trips. Enjoy!

We are grateful for the countless hours Dr. J. Ashley Foster invested in planning and organizing this program, ensuring that every aspect was enriching and meaningful. Her insightful lectures, thought-provoking discussions, and encouragement to explore beyond the classroom have broadened our perspectives, while expanding our understanding of 20th century London and the Bloomsbury Group.

We would also like to thank the College of Arts and Humanities at Fresno State University for their commitment to broadening our horizons through study abroad opportunities.

Lastly, we would like to acknowledge the administrative staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the smooth execution of the study abroad program. Their logistical support and attention to detail have been instrumental in making this experience a reality.
