What is the Parent Resource Center?

It is a room in Fayetteville Elementary School that is stocked with educational resources, books, games, and activities for parents to use at home with their children. There are also materials available for successful and effective parenting. The Den is operated by Joy Riley, Parent Liaison.

How are items checked out?

Parents can complete the request items form and choose items from the Den; items can be sent home with your child through our backpack program or families can pick up selected items from the parent liaison at the front office. Families can keep the items for up to two weeks. If you are not able to come to the school during school hours, email Joy Riley at riley.joy@fcboe.org. She will send them home with your child. The items may also be returned by your child.

What are examples of materials available for check-out?

There are reading, writing, language arts, and math books and games. There are grade-specific learning activities for grades pre-k through 5th grade. Sunken Treasure Phonics Game, Sound-It-Out Puzzles, Let’s Go Shopping Money Game, and Auntie Pasta’s Fraction Game are just a few of the engaging and interactive resources available. For parents, there are brochures, books, and DVDs available; Parenting with Love and Logic, How to Handle a Hard-To-Handle Kid, Surviving Sibling Rivalry, The Parent/Child Manual on Divorce as well as many other pamphlets available.

What are the benefits of using these materials?

When you and your child spend time together learning, reading, completing activities that promote learning, you become an active partner in his/her education. This leads to improvement in student academic achievement. Parent involvement in home learning activities positively influences a child’s behavior and school success!
