The Food Forest at Flat Rock Middle School is an active outdoor learning laboratory that consists of:
a large vegetable garden
orchard
Literacy gardens: " Books in Bloom," poetry walks, and a "Word Garden"
The Native Pollinator Plants of Georgia Garden
the International Garden
a poetry walk garden
a wellness walk
The Forest is a place where learning extends beyond the classroom!
In addition to serving our school community, these gardens are a destination in Fayette County for students and visitors who want to learn about plants, their role in education and our environment, or how they can use gardens as learning platforms!
Decorate your tree anytime through December 12th! Businesses may sponsor a decorated tree on MySchoolBucks
Students design murals for the garden inspired my Fayetteville's own NELLIE MAE ROE.
It's January. It's cold. We could all use a little hope and strength, right?
Enter Project HOPE
During the month of January, students visit the Food Forest and write messages of strength and hope for their classmates and teachers to see.
It's just another way to show our students and faculty some love during a season that might seem a little dreary for multiple reasons!
Will meet the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month. Check your calendar for family garden dates and events!
