Short-form videos can be defined as videos between three seconds and one minute in length. There has been a rapid increase in the presence of short-form video platforms in recent years. TikTok is currently the most popular app used for sharing and consuming short-form video content, though there are many others that consumers use every day. TikTok, along with other similar platforms saw increase in consumerism during the pandemic, and have since become massively popular. These platforms can also be used with negative intensions. There is an abundance of research is representative of the idea that short-form videos are often guilty of spreading misinformation and conspiracy theories.
This research aims to explore how short-form media platforms contribute to the spread of misinformation and influence public opinion, seeking to uncover the mechanisms through which these digital environments shape perception as well as consumer habits.
