What is Canvas?

Canvas is CFCC's web-based learning management system (LMS), available to all faculty, staff, and students. It acts as a central hub for fully online courses while also supporting hybrid and face-to-face classes by housing course materials, assignments, and resources.

Instructors and students use Canvas to communicate, support skill development, and track progress throughout the learning experience. From organizing content to managing grades and collaboration, Canvas brings everything into one place to make teaching and learning more efficient.

All CFCC students have convenient access to the Passport to Canvas course through their dashboard. This fully online, asynchronous course is designed to introduce students to Canvas and help them feel confident navigating the platform.

How can I access my course materials on Canvas?

Once logged in, navigate to your Dashboard to see your courses and select the relevant course to access materials. Review this guide on accessing courses.

Can I submit assignments in Canvas via mobile?

Yes, you can submit assignments using the Canvas mobile app. However, each mobile device performs differently with Canvas. Review the Canvas Mobile Device Guide for various functionality options. 

How do I check my grades in Canvas?

How can I communicate with my instructor within Canvas?

You can message your instructor using the Inbox feature, unless your instructor has disabled that feature and if so they will share their preferred communication method for their course.  Review how to Use the Canvas Inbox.
