1. Is there more than one way to earn my diploma? 

 Yes, when we create your TRST educational plan, we look at the following:

• Previous high school transcripts from both this country or your native country

• College transcripts

• Noncredit classes, including ESL and Business classes

• Individual GED or HiSet subtest each counting as 10 credits in the core area you took the test in.  For example, if you took a Social Studies subtest, you will have 10 credits in the core area.

2. Can I apply noncredit ESL classes toward my diploma?  

Yes, but you must make sure you have a P as your final grade in your transcripts.

3. If I am a returning student, when should I register for the following semester and what is the process?

• You make an appointment with your faculty advisor.

• At that meeting, bring the latest unofficial CCSF transcript and a copy of your educational plan. 

• You can register the last month of the semester up to the fourth week of the new semester.

4. How long does it take to get my high school diploma?  

This depends on how many credits you already have and the time you have available to take our classes. 

5.How long are the classes & when?  

• Our classes meet twice a week for 2.5 hours. 

•  Presently, we are offering in-person, fully online, and hybrid courses.  

• We have classes that meet Mondays & Wednesdays (MW), Tuesdays & Thursdays (TR), Fridays & Saturdays.

•  Our late afternoon classes and night classes will be following a 16 week schedule while our day classes follow an 18 week schedule. 

6. Do I have to buy books?  

No, it is not mandatory. Most of a TRST course content will be available in CANVAS and/or will be provided by the instructor.

7. When I have completed my credits, how to I proceed to get my diploma?

In your last semester, one month before the end of the semester, you will complete a form where your instructors will indicate that most likely you will pass your classes.  You will send the form to Julita McNichol at her email jmcnicho@ccsf.edu. Our staff will complete the requests forms, and you will sign the first page of the Diploma Request Form.  At the end of the semester, Ms. McNichol will send the paper work to NonCredit Admissions and Records, and once processed, they will contact you to pick up your diploma. 

8.  What about the GED tests and classes for the GED test?  

     City College no longer gives the GED Tests.  Go to this page to learn where you can go for information on taking
      the GED tests.   We do not have specific classes for GED test prep but do have classes in math, reading,
      grammar, science and social sciences that might help you to practice the skills you need to pass the test.
