Learn about ESL at City College of San Francisco
Development of intermediate-level English language skills needed to communicate effectively about keyboarding tasks, including listening, speaking, grammar, and vocabulary, as well as keyboarding skills for speed and accuracy for successful communication.
This class is part of the online ESL Vocational Office Training Program.
The ESL Vocational Office Training Program, also known as VOTP, is a two-semester certificate program that prepares non-native English speakers to pursue their chosen professional careers and additional vocational programs. Students gain valuable skills that help them effectively search and interview for jobs, communicate in the workplace, create professional correspondence and documents, collaborate on projects and presentations, and use digital tools. Students also gain confidence speaking English in front of others beyond the classroom. The VOTP certificate provides students, prospective employers, and others with documented evidence of persistence and accomplishment in vocational ESL.

The class meets on CityZoom on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10:20 am to 11:45 am.
August 19, 2026 is the first day of class.
September 7, 2026- school is closed for Labor Day
October 12, 2026- school is closed for a teachers' meeting
October 18, 2026 is the last day of class.
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
Apply oral and written instructions to complete typewritten communication at an intermediate English level.
Exhibit appropriate keyboarding skills in typing intermediate-level correspondence in English with speed and accuracy.
