Introduction to modern mass communication, with an emphasis on the development of the news media, analysis of the credibility of the media and its impact on daily life.
JOUR 19 is CSU and UC transferrable
Expect to spend approximately nine (9) hours per week on the course. Your will do readings, watch films and videos, complete assignments and participate in discussions, weekly quizzes, and other activities. Students are required to login every week and complete their assigned tasks. City College of San Francisco uses Canvas as our Learning Management System. This is not a self-paced course.
If the class is full, and you wish to add the class, please email me. Note: I give preference to students on the waiting list
If you do not log in and/or submit assignments during the first week, you will be dropped to allow other students into the course
After the first week of class, students who do not log in and/or submit assignments for more than a two-week period may be dropped (unless there are extenuating circumstances)
No need to buy a book.
All materials — readings, films, etc. — are posted on Canvas
The materials can be viewed online or printed out since each will be available as an accessible Word file or PDF
