A NOTE FROM YOUR INSTRUCTOR:

Hello Students,

Our history course begins next week and I’m writing to welcome you to our class and provide some useful information about the course before the semester begins.

History 4B is a course you will enjoy, as its subject matter embraces the many dynamics that have shaped our modern world and consciousness. Together we will discover how actions and ideas occurring in Europe from the 17th. Century onward evolved to shape and reshape the experiences of peoples and cultures far beyond. We will cover a variety of complex topics with the goal of understanding them in their historical context, as well as their significance for us today. You will find this journey rewarding.

When our course begins on January 29, 2024, you will gain access to the course on CCSF’s Canvas website. In the opening day Announcement and Syllabus Review, all of the course dynamics will be discussed in detail. The presentation will also be accompanied by a video link for you to carefully review.

The required textbook for the course is The West - A New History - Volume II (Norton, 2018), by Grafton and Bell.
