Dropping the Class

If you decide to discontinue this course, it is your responsibility to officially drop it to avoid getting no refund.

Pass-No Pass (P/NP)

You may take this class P/NP. You must decide before the deadline, and add the option online with WEB4 or file the P/NP form with Admissions and Records. With a grade of C or better, you will get P.

This course may be taken on a Pass/No Pass (formerly Credit/No Credit) basis, but you must select this option on-line through Web4 by TBD, or complete a “Petition for Pass/No Pass”, available at the Office of Admissions and Records. Under this option, satisfactory (C) or better performance in the course is required for a Pass (formerly Credit) grade. Before selecting a Pass/No Pass grading option for this course, please check with your academic counselor/advisor about the possibility of doing so in your particular academic circumstances. If taking Pass/No Pass you need at least 70% of the total class points and complete the final exam to pass the class.

You must file for the P/NP option by date listed above. Once you decide to go for P/NP, you cannot change back to a letter grade. If you are taking this course as part of a certificate program, you can probably still take the class P/NP. Check with a counselor to be sure.

Attendance

Students who do not log-in to an online class after the second week or have not participated for two consecutive weeks and participate in a learning activity will be dropped from the class. It is strongly advised that if you need to miss more than one class/homework deadline in a row that you contact me to avoid being dropped from the class.

Late Policy

All assignments are due at 11:59 p.m. PST on the due date. Late work will not be graded unless the student sends the instructor an excuse acceptable to the instructor.

Academic Accommodations for Students with Disabilities

If you need classroom or testing accommodations because of a disability, or have emergency medical information to share with me, or need special arrangements in case the building needs to be evacuated, please make an appointment with me as soon as possible. My office hours are by appointment either on the Ocean Campus (9-4 p.m., Monday through Friday) or by Zoom video-conferencing which you must schedule with me in advance.

Students seeking disability related accommodations are encouraged to also register with Disabled Students Programs and Services located in Room 323 of the Rosenberg Library (415) 452-5481. Please see the DSPS website for more information.

Standards of Conduct

Students who register in CCSF classes are required to abide by the CCSF Student Code of Conduct. Violation of the code is basis for referral to the Student Conduct Coordinator or dismissal from class or from the College. Please see the CCSF website for a complete CCSF Student Code of Conduct.

Collaborating on or copying of tests or homework in whole or in part will be considered an act of academic dishonesty and result in a grade of 0 for that test or assignment. I encourage students to share information and ideas, but not their work.

Expectations

Student Expectations

Fairness and honesty are foundations of academic work. Cheating and plagiarism and inappropriate conduct in general will not be tolerated. If you are caught violating the College rules, you will be disciplined appropriately.

You will more likely succeed in this course if you meet the following expectations:

  • Complete the assigned activities. Please let me know as soon as you can concerning difficulties that you may have in getting assignments in on time.

  • Complete the discussion posts and replies within the given window of time. Our discussions are much more vibrant when we all participate!

  • Complete the weekly homework, discussions and replies, midterm exams or quizzes, and the final exam on time.

  • Think critically about the weekly topics. Is something surprising? Is it new to you? How does it contrast with what you know about XYZ or how does it compare to ABC?

  • Do your own and your best work.

If your personal life or job are interfering with your coursework in this class please let me know immediately so I can make some suggestions and try to work out a viable solution with you.

Here is what you can expect of me:

  • I will treat you and your ideas with respect.

  • I will grade your work most often within one week. If you have posted late work, it may take longer.)

  • I will work hard to make this a great class.
