Japanese 1B

Course Information

The latter half of the introductory course in Japanese language. Elementary level of four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) will be developed. The course also will introduce cultural aspects of Japan. Mastering of the Japanese syllabic writing system katakana is required. Simple kanji (Chinese characters) will also be introduced. There is no required meeting time for this course. Scanner and device for audio and video recording are required to complete assignments.

It is students' responsibility to officially drop from the course to avoid getting no refund , a W symbol, or a grade. Also, consecutive, unexplained absences for two weeks, the instructor may drop a student.

To add a course, try to register for it during the registration period. If the course is full, you can register for the waiting list. Students on the registered waiting list have priority in being added. For more information on the waiting list process, visit Waitlist Information. If the class and the waiting list are both full, the next step is to fill out a "class add request" in myRAM. CCSF is no longer using add codes and now requires that students submit a request. See instructions on page 22 in the myRAM Registration Guide.

If you are registered for the waiting list for any of my classes, it is important that you regularly check your CCSF email address before the course starts. If a student drops the course before it starts, and you are next on the waiting list, you will be offered the spot via your college email. You must respond within 24 hours confirming that you still want to add the class. If you miss this email, the next person on the waiting list will be offered the spot, and you will lose your place on the waiting list. For more information on the waiting list process, visit Waitlist Information.

Once the course starts, the waitlist disappears. I always make a copy of the waitlist before this happens, but if you do not hear from me and still want to add the course, you will need to reference the instructions on page 22 in the myRAM Registration Guide.
