Welcome, students! I'm so excited to share this journey into computers and the Internet with you this semester.
Introduction to Computers for ESL-Intermediate provides an overview of English terminology and practices used in computer and digital applications: word processing software, the Internet, email, spreadsheets, presentations, and digital platforms.
ESL reading, writing, speaking and listening skills are developed through a variety of projects and interactive work.
Please note: This is an online class, so most work will be done in Canvas. Expect to do a minimum of five hours of work per week on Canvas.
Once you register for the course, you can download your Free Microsoft Office software here.
You can also rent a free laptop from our CCSF library, too!
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Use basic terminology to communicate about computers and digital processes.
Interpret intermediate-level instructions to create simple documents and spreadsheets using a variety of tools.
Use presentation software or digital applications to create and present short oral presentations based on basic online research.
Use basic terminology to communicate about computers and digital processes.
Interpret intermediate-level instructions in English to navigate computer applications and use tools common across them.
Create and collaborate on simple correspondence and documents, using a variety of tools and following intermediate-level instructions in English.
