Course Information

Course Description:

This course is a consciousness-raising analysis and evaluation of race-based oppression on individual, institutional, and cultural levels in the U.S. Emphasis on expanding knowledge about racism, increasing awareness of one's own socialization and assumptions, and the application of this knowledge and awareness for individual and social change.

The 0.5 unit course provides diversity training for City College of San Francisco the larger SF community. It serves professional development needs for employers, community-based organizations, and social or government agencies such as San Francisco Unified School District and the Police Academy. It is a required course for the Diversity and Social Justice certificate and an elective for Youth Workers, Trauma Prevention and Recovery, Critical Pacific Islands and Oceania Studies, and the Sexual Health Educator certificates and degrees to name a few.
