LALS/LBCS 15: Latin American Workers in the Americas (3) Lec-52.5 P/NP available Advise: ENGL 93 or ENGL 95 or ENGL 88 or ENGL 88A or ESL 150 or placement in ENGL 96 or ENGL 88B or ESL 160 This course bridges Labor Studies and Latin American/Latino/a Studies by comparing the histories and realities of Latin American workers in the U.S. and Latin America. Traces the parallel histories of Latin American and Latino workers and discusses the ways in which politics, economics and social movements shape their experiences. Course Description

This course bridges Labor Studies and Latin American/Latino/a Studies by comparing the histories and realities of Latin American workers in the US and Latin America. The course traces the parallel of Latin American and Latino workers and discusses the ways in which politics, economics and social movements shape their experiences. Neo-colonialism and underdevelopment, emigration and immigration, Latino workers in the U.S. Unionization, the fight for immigrants’ rights and solidarity throughout the hemisphere.
