Lancelot Kao

Welcome to Spring 2024!

I was born in Hong Kong and graduated from St. Joan of Arc Secondary School in 1982. Afterward, I immigrated to the United States during 1980s. I attended CCSF and transferred to the University of California at Berkeley to finish my undergraduate degree in physics and astronomy. Afterwards, I continued my doctorate study in astronomy and astrophysics at the University of Chicago.

I joined the Astronomy Department since fall 1997. Besides teaching, I am active in the following research areas: extragalactic astronomy and observational cosmology.

In addition, I am practicing Judo, Jiu-jitsu, and Olympic Weightlifting at CCSF. Recently, I am taking circus skills classes at Circus Center in San Francisco.
