Welcome to Fall 2019!

What comes to mind when you hear the phrase “social movement”? Do you think of massive street protest, violence and government repression? Or do you think of people coming together, expressing a shared set of values through cultural production such as music and art? Latin American social movements are a fascinating area of study because they involved all of these elements. You should expect to be transformed as you learn about the ways that nations, politics, culture and people interact with one another to create change in their societies.
