Course Information

What Is English 1A + 1AS?

In English 1A, you will develop your reading, writing, critical thinking, and study skills. To reach the goals of this course, you will write well developed expository essays, actively read various texts, take reading quizzes, participate in discussions with your peers, and complete other reading and writing activities in order to build your skills. You will also learn to effectively manage your time and study habits in order to be successful in this course and others that you are taking.

The class focuses on success, both in your personal life and in your career. You will write essays on how to develop soft skills (known as people skills), forgiving, and on a career of your choice.

English 1A + 1AS also includes two units of reading and writing support, as well as a dedicated tutor, who will work with you on all aspects of the class.

Course Materials

You don't need a textbook for this class; most materials are contained within Canvas, though you will be required to use your own research as well.

Adding Procedure

After the first day of class, if you would like to add the class, you will need to go to MyRam and submit a Class Add Request and I will add you if I have space. I drop students who have not completed required assignments after the first week, so I often have space then.

I add students from the Class Add Request lists in the order that I receive them, as space becomes available.
