The science unit we are focusing on here is Ecosystems. Below I have included the different lessons along with their titles, the learning objectives and the activities we will be doing for each lesson.
Lesson 1: Ecosystems and How They Work
Objective: Students will be able to examine and explain the structure of an ecosystem by organizing producers, consumers, and decomposers and describing their functions, as it relates to the energy flow of an ecosystem.
Activity: Sorting Game
Open this link and press the start button to begin the sorting. The children will be able to drag the picture under one of the three categories, producers, consumers and decomposers. Once all the pictures are in place you can submit your work to see how many you got correct.
Lesson 2: Relationships in Ecosystems
Objective: Students will be able to compare and contrast at least four different relationships within an ecosystem.
Activity: Ecosystem Match
Open this link to get to the matching activity. Press begin and start reading the options on your screen, drag a line from a phrase on the left side to one on the right to connect the relationships of the ecosystem. If it is correct the line will stay and the phrases will turn green, if it's incorrect the line will not stay.
Lesson 3: Food Webs and Their Energy Flow
Objective: Students will be able to create a food web, labeling the energy flow and illustrating pictures of each organism.
Activity: Food Chain Order
This website will bring you to a game. Once you press start you will begin the game. This activity is where the students will drag a picture into a box to complete the correct food chain order.
***Additional Games if students are done with work***
Open this link and scroll down to the basketball game. Press start and begin the game. When you answer a question the player will shoot the ball. It will go in or miss depending if you gave the correct answer.
