My name is Bailey Blickhahn and I am a Special Education teacher at Seth Low I.S. 96 in Brooklyn. I teach math to 7th grade students and utilize technology in the classroom as part of our routine each time we learn a new skill.
I received my undergraduate degree in criminal justice from the University of Scranton. I initially did not plan to go into education. When I graduated from Scranton I was fortunate enough to be offered a job as a substitute teacher and from there I knew this was the career I wanted to pursue.
My personal philosophy is that all students should have access to their education in a place where they feel included and supported. The use of technology in the classroom helps with supporting this philosophy as students are able to have access to material that best supports their own personal needs. I also provide students with materials that support them when they are learning new skills. I find it important to ensure that there are multiple ways of teaching and demonstrating new skills to students as everyone learns differently.
