All About Me

HI FRIENDS!

My name is Ms. Scarola and I am SO excited to be your second grade teacher this year. I graduated from the University of Scranton with a Bachelor of Science in Primary Education and I am graduating from Adelphi University with a Masters of Science in Early Childhood Special Education. I am certified in Early Childhood Education (Birth-Grade 2), Childhood Education (Grades 1-6), and Students with Disabilities (Birth-Grade 2). This is my second year teaching but my first year teaching second grade!

I've been working in the early childhood field since I was 14 years old. My career started when I began volunteering at a local preschool. I love teaching and working with children. There is nothing more special than developing and enlightening the young minds of our world!

Some of my favorite things are pizza, sushi, coffee, dogs, winter, Christmas, the color black, Disney World, and baseball (let's go Mets!).

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy of teaching reflects creating a safe and nurturing learning environment for all students. It revolves around the belief that every child has the capacity to learn and thrive when provided the right environment, tailored support, and unwavering encouragement. My philosophy recognizes the unique needs and potential of each child and centers on inclusivity, empathy, and individualization. In such an environment, emotional and physical safety should be prioritized as core principles. Cultivating a sense of belonging and acceptance will foster a space where students feel valued and accepted, regardless of their abilities or differences. My philosophy also embraces the understanding that learning extends beyond academics, encompassing social and emotional development. I recognize that a collective effort is essential for the growth and well-being of young learners through advocating for collaboration among teachers, parents, and staff. Ultimately, my philosophy aims to empower students to reach their full potential by instituting a warm, accepting, and optimistic educational environment.
