Dear Parent/Guardian,

Each student’s journey is unique. “Connecting students' interests to their potential career paths early ensures active participation in their own academic success and opens their eyes to the wide world of career opportunities.” - Naviance

Mahwah High School’s new Career Pathways elective program provides opportunities for students to design an educational program aligned with their possible post-secondary college and career interests. With contributions from our faculty and administrators, we were able to select career pathways tailored to our school community by using career and college major data from the Class of 2015, 2016, 2017. We are excited to announce the creation of 8 Career Pathways we have designed that are comprised of sequenced elective course concentrations:

• Government and Social Sciences
• Business Administration
• Performing and Communication Arts
• STEAM Visual and Integrated Design
• STEAM Engineering and Technology
• STEAM Information and Computer Science Technology
• STEAM Biotechnology Research and Health Sciences
• Option-Two Programs

Students may select their rigorous required curricula and elective courses to create a concentration of courses that create an academic plan that not only match students’ interests, and fulfill graduation requirements, but also align to post-secondary goals.

Students may elect to follow a pathway and are not locked into one pathway during their time at Mahwah High School. Students may select any course as long as they meet all requirements and pre-requisites.

I am confident that our elective course pathways will provide your child with a rich educational experience that will prepare them for careers of the 21^st century.
