The 2-week Global Health Experience offers health science students an introduction to the challenges of communicable and noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) in developing countries. Participants will engage in hands-on diagnostic laboratory work focusing on malaria and other parasitic diseases prevalent in the Southeast Asia region. Additionally, students will visit NCD clinics to understand how these diseases are managed within the Thai healthcare system.
The program also includes participation in poison center teaching rounds, field experiences such as community visits, and a trip to the Thai Red Cross serpentarium, where snake antivenoms are produced.
