The SynGlyco Research Lab conducts advanced experimentation in Synthetic Biology and Glycoengineering.
Welcome to the SynGlyco Lab, where we engineer the sugar code of life. We combine cell-free synthetic biology, glycoengineering, and bioprocess innovation to study, design, and construct glycan structures with precision. Our research spans cell-based and cell-free systems to tackle fundamental questions in glycobiology and develop next-generation biotechnologies. From programming cellular glycosylation pathways to building cell-free glycoprotein synthesis platforms, we're creating new tools to decode, design, and deploy glycans for applications in diagnostics, therapeutics, and beyond. Based in the Department of Biotechnology at Mahidol University, we're building a modular approach to understanding and harnessing one of most complex biomolecules in Nature - carbohydrates.
We believe in open science. All our published protocols and reagents are available upon reasonable requests. Please contact Dr. Thapakorn.
While the SynGlyco Lab is just getting started at Mahidol University, our foundational research has been published in leading international journals. You can find a complete and up-to-date list of the Principal Investigator's publications here.
We are actively recruiting passionate students (Senior Projects, M.Sc., Ph.D.) and postdocs to join us in establishing this new program. If you are interested in working at the interface of biology and engineering, we want to hear from you.
