TRAILs FOR CHARITY

gIVE TO THOSE IN NEED

One of Mad Man Races most important objectives is to give to those in need.   Trails for Charity was created so that everyone will have the chance to give to a worthy cause if they want to do so.

There are two ways to donate:

Here is how it works: Go and scan the QR code for the Mad Man Races Venmo account located at the bottom of this page.   Once you are in the Venmo account enter the total amount that you wish to donate.   100% of all donations, through the Venmo account, will go to the person of family highlighted in this tab.   In the comment section state how many trail miles you are donating, this is the amount that you are donating for the charity, then press pay.

Mad Man Races would like to thank all those who donate.  You can rest assured that your donations will help those who need it the most.

Run for Joy

Joy grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana and because her father was in the Air Force, she has lived in many different areas of the world. Joy met Joe in 1998 while she was taking a class in mountaineering with a focus on kayaking. Joe was the teacher and they have been together ever since, a total of 25 years. She is the mother of 5 children, 4 girls and 1 boy. She likes to sew and be creative in her cabin home. Joy loves gardening and living in the peaceful mountains of Deep Creek. Joy is 76 years old and still enjoys long distance running and has been an active runner most of her adult life. She has enjoyed running half-marathons and every distance from there. Joe and Joy currently focus much of their time rescuing stray and other dogs needing a loving home.

On the night of November 28th, Joy was preparing dinner. She lit the oven and the whole kitchen exploded into a fireball that burned for a full 3 seconds. A gas leak had gone undetected in their home for almost 7 hours. The explosion destroyed the picture windows and many of their personal possessions. Thankfully, their home did not burn down as Joe was prepared with fire extinguishers but the explosion and the fire that followed caused a great deal of damage.

Joy sustained 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 20% of her body, was rushed to a Salt Lake burn center and is still recovering. She is responding well to the multiple surgeries, but still has a long way to go with additional surgeries and physical therapy.

The generous funds raised will go directly to help with medical bills for them both as well as helping to restore what was lost in the fire.
