Madison Primary School is committed to helping our Mountaineers be successful by providing interventions and supports for our students according to their needs in a caring, positive and safe environment. We are guided by the Virginia Tiered Systems of Supports (VTSS) data driven framework to establish these academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions for all students.

What is Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)?

Within the Framework of VTSS is our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system which focuses on the importance of creating a positive and nurturing learning environment, good relationships and communicating clear expectations. These systems work together to strengthen the student's academic, behavioral, and social emotional growth.

As part of this program, we have adopted the following school-wide expectations: Be Responsible, Be Safe and Be Respectful. This initiative focuses on teaching expected behaviors and demonstrating what those behaviors look like in various settings. When students know what is expected of them, there is more time for teaching and learning and less distraction to the learning environment.
