The Madison Podcast Project: Season 2 is happening this summer!

We're looking for cast and crew for our second podcast series, and this time it's a comedy: Help Desk, by Don Zolidis. There will be over a dozen episodes, with over 30 parts available!

  • Any Madison student who has completed grades 6-12 is eligible.

  • Workshops & rehearsals will be on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, July 26 through Aug. 11, from 9 am - 11 am at the Madison High School Theater. (These times will not conflict with any band rehearsals!) The directors are Mrs. Crim and Mr. Brown.

  • Thanks to volunteer staff and a grant from the Middletown Community Foundation, there is no charge to students (not even a pay-to-participate fee).

  • The performance/recording session will be Friday Aug. 12 at 7:30 pm. Admission is free - invite your family and friends!

No previous experience is needed - we're looking for new people to get involved in theater and podcasting! Besides actors, we're also looking for students who are interested in learning how to edit the audio and promote the podcast on social media.

Interested? Just thinking about it? Get hooked up now so you get all the information over the summer! Here's all you need to do:

  1. Download and join the Madison Drama Team App on your phone. (Click here for detailed instructions.) You can also join on the web at madisondrama.teamapp.com.

  2. Join the Podcast Project group. Keep an eye on it over the summer for updates.

  3. You can read the entire script online for free! Click here to read the script. (You'll have to create an account on the Playscripts website to see the script, but it's free!)

  4. Show up at school on Tuesday July 26 at 9 am for our first rehearsal workshop!

If you have questions or comments, please email Joel Brown.

Why podcasts?

  • To allow actors and directors more time to focus on script analysis, character study and acting choices - things that often get lost in a regular stage production, when they are also working on blocking, memorization, choreography, costumes, makeup sets ...

  • To give students with busy schedules a chance to do a show with a short time commitment (we put together our first podcast in only three days, over a long weekend).

  • To give novice actors a chance to have a full acting experience with less pressure, and so get more students involved.

  • To share our students' talents with a world-wide audience.

We hope to produce more seasons with adaptations of other theater scripts, but to do so we must pay licensing fees as well as royalties and script fees. We are happy to pay to support professional playwrights who generously allow us to adapt their scripts, but we need your support to be able to do so. Please consider clicking below to donate any amount to the Madison Drama Club and help make future podcast seasons possible. Thank you!
