I was born and raised in Mitchell County.
I graduated from Mars Hill College with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a concentration in History.
I have been a resident of Madison County since 2003 (well technically, 1999 when I attended the present day MHU).
In 2003, I began my teaching career at Mars Hill Elementary, where I taught Kindergarten for 10 years.
After leaving Madison County Schools to raise my son, I taught preschool part-time at the Mars Hill Preschool for 6 years.
I came to Madison Early College in 2020 and after serving in various roles here, I became the Exceptional Children's Teacher in 2024. During my time there, I served on the SIT Team, Chair of MTSS, and Testing Support.
After trying a new career path in the spring of 2026, I found that I miss teaching! This fall, I am returning to MECHS as a teacher in the history department. I am very excited to be back home! I love serving ALL children and consider it an honor and privilege to be at Madison Early College! Students in my classroom know that I provide a nurturing environment where kindness and respect are offered and expected in return.
I live in Mars Hill with my husband Michael, and our kids: Haley, a Lees McCrae graduate; Alex, who attends App State & Remington, who will be a freshman at Madison High School.
