On October 8 the science department took our students to visit Beech Glen for the first time. Our goal was to introduce them to the site, have them participate in two of four activities of their choice, and create some excitement about the possibility of designing a future park at Beech Glen.
Students could participate in two of the following activities:
Water Quality Analysis = a little chemistry in the river led by Mr. Wyatt
Quadrant Sampling = using the Seek app to get an idea of the plants and animals along the banks of the Little Ivy led by Ms. Schoof
Stream Corridor Assessment = walking the river from Beech Glen to the confluence of Little Ivy and California Creek paying attention to stream health and topography led by Ms. Wallin
Park Dreams = imagining a future park and what facilities would best serve the community led by Mr. Schneider
