About Me
I am from the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. My favorite places to go are Orange Beach and Panama City. I'm obsessed with the beach.
I've been at the Early College for 11 years. This is my 35th year teaching English! I started when I was 9 ;)
My dog's name is ironic, Bear. He's small, sweet, and terrified of other dogs. He'll chase cats, squirrels, and loves people but freezes when he's around another dog, even a puppy. Not very Bear-like.
I live with my husband, twin daughters, and Bear. I've been married for 25 years. My daughters graduated from App State and MECHS/ ABT.
I went to the University of Southern MS. I have a bachelor's degree in British Literature and a master's degree in English. I am proud of my national board certified teacher status--it was really hard work!
I have taught at AB-Tech as an adjunct and for the Writing Center for the last 25 years. Shout out to the Writing Center at AB-Tech. Use it--it's a free, fantastic service for all courses.
I enjoy the beach, the beach, and the beach. Did I mention I Iike the beach? :) I also like reading (surprise for an ENG teacher, right?), working on my coaching/ educator Facebook page, and planning my next trip to the beach.
I serve as MECHS' instructional coach, which means I get to help teachers and students grow their skills.
I'm serving as our School Improvement Chair this year.
I LOVE challenge/ community based learning. Our school has accomplished lots of community outreach from food drives for Beacon of Hope to an Appalachian event.
