The goal of our project was to bring more awareness to a problem that has been affecting Native American communities for a decade. We started by researching the problem so we could find information that would help us take action, such as, how Native Americans are being abducted, and how this is affecting taxpayers. we also interviewed Walter Murillo, who is the CEO of Native Health. when we started the action phase of the project we were going to send a letter to state legislatures who were working on 2 senate bills that were eventually taken down by the House of Representatives. These bills would have helped fix the problem in native american communities. However, our goal shifted when we realized we had a connection with a reporter from the news. After we found that out, we worked to get a possible news story, and the letter was sidelined. Another bill was introduced in the State Legislature. SB-1136 was introduced to fix the AHCCCS payment loophole. That bill will not allow the fake recovery to excessively bill AHCCCS. It is still being considered in the state House of Representatives. We did an email campaign urging the passage of SB 1136
