SPANISH FLUENCY:
We have officially started diving into our Spanish speaking countries! We are learning the geography and the culture.
Kinder: Is being introduced to Honduras and learning our goodbyes and hellos en Espanol
1st and 2nd: Is being introduced to Mexico, we are learning proper greetings.
3rd: Being introduced to Peru. We are learning to say hello/goodbye.
4th: Being introduced to Nicaragua and learning how to properly greet people.
ART:
We are now done with the Kids Kreation projects and are waiting for them to be delivered back to Heights as stickers!! Kids Kreations Packets will be going home the week of Oct. 30-Nov. 3
Kinder: Creating Collages from Shapes. Learning how to attach paper in the art room.
1st: Texture Unit: Texture Monsters
2nd: Creating Amate Paper Cutting Collages inspired by the Otomi People in Mexico
3rd: Designing and making personal Milagros inspired by the milagros of Mexico and the ex votos of Greece.
4th: Drawing "La Catrina" step by step while looking at the art of Jose Guadalupe Posada
4th Reach: Creating dancing calacas (skeletons).
MUSIC: 4th grade has started back up with our recorder program, which means they can bring their recorder to music class. 3rd grade will start preparing for their performance which is on November 2. The title of this concert is “America the Beautiful.” Kinder, 1st, and 2nd, are working on the basics of music while reviewing groupings, measures, rhythm, and beat.
PE: PE is in full Volleyball swing. We have been working on bumping and setting the ball. We will be playing a volleyball game and then beginning our new unit of bowling. Students will be learning how to be a "Pin Jockey", how to throw a bowling ball, and how to keep score. We also have added Just Dance to our warm up routine now and students have been enjoying dancing to some Halloween classics like Ghostbusters, This Is Halloween, and of course, Thriller.
