Homework

Homework is provided weekly on Thursdays in your 1st grader's yellow behavior folder, along with a review of how they did throughout the week.

• Homework is more life skills based - it is flexible to meet the needs of your child. It should not create more stress in your family life

• Students are also asked to read to or with someone for 20 minutes each night. This daily reading practice is essential for building reading skills and fluency for your child.

• Please speak with your child's teacher for the specific homework requirements for their classroom.

Homework Tips

• Provide a quiet place for your child to do their work.

• Make sure that your child has the materials needed to complete their homework readily available: pencils/pens, crayons, scissors, glue/tape.

• Assist your child as needed, but please allow your child to struggle and work out problems for themselves as much as possible-this is how we learn.

• Remind your child that homework is their responsibility. They need to remember to bring it home, complete it neatly and accurately, and return it to school on time.
