Homework is provided weekly on Thursdays in your 1st grader's yellow behavior folder, along with a review of how they did throughout the week.
Homework is more life skills based - it is flexible to meet the needs of your child. It should not create more stress in your family life
Students are also asked to read to or with someone for 20 minutes each night. This daily reading practice is essential for building reading skills and fluency for your child.
Please speak with your child's teacher for the specific homework requirements for their classroom.
Homework Tips
Provide a quiet place for your child to do their work.
Make sure that your child has the materials needed to complete their homework readily available: pencils/pens, crayons, scissors, glue/tape.
Assist your child as needed, but please allow your child to struggle and work out problems for themselves as much as possible-this is how we learn.
Remind your child that homework is their responsibility. They need to remember to bring it home, complete it neatly and accurately, and return it to school on time.
