Welcome to 7th Grade Science!


Class description:

This class covers 7th grade science standards.

I teach five sections of 7th grade Science and collaborate with fellow 7th grade science teacher, Molly Harbottle, who has two sections of Science.

Coursework is a combination of independent and collaborative group work. A variety of projects will enhance students’ understanding of Science.

Grades

This course uses Standards Based Grading. The scale is 0-8.

0=50%; 1=55%; 2=60%; 3=67.5%; 4=75%; 5=82.5%; 6=90%; 7=95%; 8-100%

90-100 = A; 80-89 = B; 70-79 = C; 60-69 = D; Below 60 = F

Classroom Expectations

Students are expected to:

Follow classroom and school rules.

Have all materials needed to participate in class activities.

Perform to the best of their ability on each and every assignment.

Assignment Completion

Every student is expected to complete every assignment because each is capable of completing every assignment.

Extra help is available to help students complete every assignment. These times include: Before school; After school; and By appointment.

Class Structure/Homework

Classwork and homework are considered practice assignments. Students are expected to complete them but they will not be included in the computation of a student's final grade.

Managing Assignments/Absence Policy

If you are absent, you have as many days as you missed to make up your work (as per Student Handbook).

When returning from absence, check with instructor(s).

Monday: Conclusion for bacteria lab- at least 5 sentences!
