We want kids to take responsibility for what they say and do in our classes. The easiest way to check and make sure kids understand where they stand is to have them do a self assessment. It’s also a great tool for teachers to recognize when a student might have a lower self-perception than they should – this is a great opportunity for the teacher to have a conversation and encourage them.
Anytime students have a problem with someone they can use the Conflict Corner. I want to send a message to take personal responsibility and take ownership of the class.
Why Step 1? Check out the recent research on Power Poses and how it affects your bodies hormone levels, you can google it, or read this article which sums it up nicely. Or watch Amy Cuddy’s Ted Talk on body language.
Note: The conflict corner is note meant to be used when there is an issue of safety. The point of the conflict corner is to empower students to take care of issues in a positive manner.
