Yes, we recognize two schools as the MCS Technology School of the year. The top elementary school and the top secondary school. The winning schools receive the traveling trophy for that school year and a $500 grant sponsored by Mike's Kids Education Foundation to purchase technology for their school with.
Our students are creating wonderful projects to demonstrate learning. This competition does often highlight those class projects and many of those have won in the past year. But this can be a personal student creation. Students have a wide spectrum of interests and this competition is to give them the opportunity to share their interests and grow those skills to create these creations. Make sure to double-check the rubric for any guidance that may be needed.
NO! this is first a SCHOOL-WIDE event. The school coordinator/team will decide the top 5 entries and then submit them to the district level to compete against other students from across the district. This same project may also be submitted to STLP DPOJ (Digital Project Online Judging) and may be selected to compete at the state level.
The competition is for ALL students K-12 that attend Madison County Schools. There is a district competition that is called the Madison County Schools Technology Extravaganza and there is a state STLP Digital Project Online Judging that if selected will go to the state STLP competition in April to compete against others from across the state.
The MCS Tech Extravaganza has the following categories. Our students compete with students from across the district at the same age level to make it more even.
Every category has four levels of competition:
K-2
3-5
6-8
9-12
YES!
We want to give our students all the possible experiences we can. We have GREAT products being created in our classrooms daily and we want our students to know they are learning skills that can be recognized in our district and state. All of these skills will help them no matter what they choose to do in their future careers. And the confidence that is gained by competing at these levels will help them become a more successful individual.
