Work Based Learning

Students have the opportunity to earn elective credits by enrolling in a Work/Volunteer Based Learning Class. The class is a hybrid of supervised work experience, Google Classroom assignments, and in-person meetings with a school-based coordinator & workplace mentor.

Assignments required through the Google Classroom connect work to school by requiring students to:

  • Set goals that connect their work to MMSD's Graduate Vision skills.

  • Complete regular online check-ins that require reflection on progress towards their goals & serve as a way to connect with their school-based coordinator.

  • Complete a final reflection connecting their growth to the State of WI Employability Skills.

*Note: Employers must agree to participate in the program and MMSD cannot require employers to participate.

If all requirements are met, credit awarded is based on total hours worked, up to a maximum of five (5) credits.

Every 45 hours worked amounts to a 1/4 credit.

45 hours worked & program requirements met = .25 credit

90 hours worked & program requirements met = .5 credit

135 hours worked & program requirements met = .75 credit

180 hours worked & program requirements met = 1 credit
