Below you will find the forms and resources you need to transition as a new Regent.
Please reach out to your School Counselor for additional questions.
We are so excited to welcome you into the Regent community. Check out these presentations and videos to get an idea of what to expect as you start your high school journey at West.
Students must earn 22 credits to earn an MMSD diploma at all comprehensive high schools (East, LaFollette, Memorial, West, and Shabazz).
In some cases, that number may be different if the student transferred in from another district, or has an Individual Education Plan that identifies a different graduation plan.
Credit-Bearing Opportunities Outside of the MMSD High School Classroom
Other High School Completion Opportunities
Student ID number and password: You will be assigned a student identification number upon enrollment that you will use on all devices and learning apps for login. Your initial password will be in the format xMMDDYYX. 'MMDDYY' is your birthdate, such as "x101205X."
Email and communication: You will have your own email address, including a part of your name followed by @madison.k12.wi.us. It is a Google account that will also be used to access many online platforms used in the classroom. Your email address is also an essential communication tool for your teachers and other staff, so please practice checking your email at least once per day.
Chromebook: All new students will receive a school-issued Chromebook during their first week of school. You will use your ID and password to access the learning tools on your Chromebook. If you are enrolling after the first day of school, it may take 24 hours for the Chromebook to be activated.
Electronic Device Policy: Review West's policy about phone use at school.
Resources: Take a look at the Regent Student Resource Hub, a site built and managed by students.
Students ride free the first week of school!
All Madison Metro Transit buses use Regent Street for drop off and pick up. Only specialized transportation vans will use Van Hise Street. Students can purchase Metro bus passes at this link.
District-provided (free) Metro Transit passes are available for students who:
1-Reside within the boundaries of the school attendance area
2-Reside more than one and one-half (1.5) miles from their attendance area school.
3-Have demonstrable financial need, including qualifying for free or reduced lunch.
Students who qualify for a district-provided (free) bus pass will be able to pick them up at West during the first week of school and will be allowed to ride for free until bus passes are distributed.
The National School Lunch/Breakfast Program is a federally subsidized program that is designed to help eligible children receive complete, nutritious meals at reduced or no cost. Families who qualify for free or reduced priced meals can confidentially participate in both the USDA Lunch and Breakfast Programs at their schools.
Families seeking free or reduced-price meals must establish their eligibility every school year and can do so by completing and submitting a single household application. Qualified families will receive free school breakfast and lunch meals for their student(s), reduced fees and other educational benefits. Even if you aren’t sure your household qualifies, we encourage everyone to apply. Completed applications may also help the school qualify for educational funds and other meal programs.
