At West High School this October we've been educating and registering new voters! A team of seven senior students along with Social Studies teacher, Mr. Ross, and Instructional Coach, Ms. Glueck, worked with amazing volunteers from the League of Women Voters to run two days of voter education and registration. Laura Gottlieb from the Leauge of Women Voters led the non-partisan charge to unite everyone and ensure that the information students provided to their peers was accurate. Over two days the students educated 850 of their peers and the volunteers registered 20+ new voters and gave many, many more the opportunity to Pledge to Register. There's a plan in place for ongoing registration as students turn 18 years old --students can make an appointment in the LMC. Here is the students' presentation that most juniors and seniors at West experienced! It has a lot of great information about why you should vote, how you can register, what photo ID to take to the polls, and how to educate yourself about the process and the candidates using non-partisan, high quality websites.
