We need workshop hosts!
For our 2026 Equity Symposium, we are asking for presenters to lead two 65-minute workshops (the same workshop offered twice).
New for 2026, we are asking for:
Academic workshops to be held in the morning. Presenters of academic workshops will sign-up for sessions 1 & 2
Workshops that are inherently very interactive/hands-on (Art, Dance, Meditation, Mindfulness, Outdoor education) to be held in the afternoon. Presenters in these categories will sign-up for sessions 3 & 4
All workshops must:
make a clear connection to equity. This is not a typical career fair. The connection you have to equity is likely unique. If you are unsure, please reach out! Below are some examples that may be helpful:
You might connect participants to the ways in which your work recognizes individual needs, challenges, strengths, and supports needed for success.
Your workshop might uplift or highlight an art form specific to a culture, social movement, or time period.
You might focus on reducing a disparity that exists in our community.
be intentionally interactive and provide opportunities for participants to interact with content, other participants, and presenters
Support is offered to help you create activities/games/simulations that work for your subject area
AI can also be helpful for this. Start with a prompt like "give me examples of interactive activities for a 60 minute workshop for teenagers on the topic of [insert your topic]"
Workshops may:
connect participants to the work you do
tell a story connected to culture and identity
focus on a specific equity issue
Sign up is due Wednesday February 25, 2026. Sign-up form coming soon!
Why so early?? Creation of Marketing Materials, Registration, and Scheduling takes time!
If you'd like to learn more via phone, email, or meeting, please reach out to Sarah Quinn (sequinn@madison.k12.wi.us). Sarah is also available as a thought partner to help you plan an interactive and engaging workshop. Please don't hesitate to reach out.
We will hold orientation meetings for presenters (via Google Meet) between March 9 - March 20. More information, including several dates and times, will be emailed to presenters by the end of February.
We also need 2 musical acts to kick-off the day in our 2 gym spaces
Please contact Sarah Quinn if you are part of a band that can combine music with storytelling/a connection to culture and/or social movement
All sessions must follow MMSD BOE Policy 3170 on Controversial Issues
All presenters must fill out the visitor pre-registration
