Step 1: Choose a topic
Topics to Research
Food Safety: At the turn of the century, food production was unsafe and hazardous.
Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse (The Temperance Movement): Alcohol abuse is rampant (widespread and destructive) and is causing social problems.
Political Corruption: Politics are being controlled by big business and corrupt political parties. Cheating during elections and stealing taxpayer money is common.
Environmentalism and Conservation: Industrialization without laws has created massive pollution.
Women’s Rights: Women do not have the right to vote and under the law are considered property.
Civil Rights for African Americans: African Americans continue to experience discrimination and racism.
City Slums: Unsafe housing, water, sewage, transportation, homelessness
Big Business & Monopolies: Businesses are controlling the market, unfair price setting, and extreme labor practices
Workers Rights: Workers had few rights while they were working in factories.
Civil Rights for Latinos: Latinos faced discrimination and abuse in the early 1900s.
Step 2: Fill out note sheets for sources you used (these are required formatives)
Should use a different Note Sheet for each source
Each person needs to do 3 sources for your project
Step 3: Create your Informational Exhibit (Grading Rubric)
Decide what type of exhibit you want to make:
Create a Google Slides Presentation or other type of presentation (Infographic, Prezi, Digital Poster etc.)
Exhibit Requirements: (Example Project)
Have a clear title for your project
Write a paragraph answering each of the four essential questions (above)
Include 4 primary sources about your topic (photos, quotes, newspaper articles, artifacts, paintings/drawings etc.). You should use HAPPY to describe the source (Standard #2: Source Analysis)
Put some interesting/attractive touches on your exhibit
Create social media campaign
