Outdoor Adventure

Get outside and explore this summer!  MSCR Outdoor Adventure Club is offering a variety of programs this summer, including camping, canoeing, kayaking, hiking and rock climbing.  

All Outdoor Adventure Club trips are FREE and MSCR will provide all necessary equipment.

Intro to kayaking at Olin Park

Overnight camping schedule

These trips are an introduction to camping, and will include instruction on tent setup, fire building, Leave No Trace, and camp cooking.  Students are not required to have any camping experience and all equipment is provided by MSCR.  

Camping & hiking at Governor Dodge State Park

Eligibility requirement for camping trips:

• Students must be available for the full scheduled time.  

• Students must have participated in at least two previous OAC programs.

• For kayaking on August 1 - students must have participated in at least one previous OAC kayaking program. 

3-nights backpacking camping in the Porcupine Mountains (Michigan):  August 14-17

Outdoor Adventure Club is offering a backcountry camping and hiking experience in the Porcupine Mountains State Park in Michigan for a limited number of participants in August.  This 4-day, 3-night trip will be led by an experienced wilderness guide.  All equipment and food is provided by MSCR.

Schedule

Depart Monday August 14 at 9:00 am

Return Thursday August 17 at 5:30 pm (approximately)

Eligibility requirement for the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness trip:

• Must be available for the entire 4 days/3 nights

• Must attend at least two other Outdoor Adventure Club summer trips:

Level 1 - hiking

June 29, July 12, or prior experience hiking with OAC

Level 2 - overnight camping

July 19-20 or July 31-August 1

Space for the Porcupine Mountains backpacking trip is limited to 9 participants.  If more eligible students request to attend than the capacity, students will be selected by application.
