How old do I need to be to get a job?
A student can get a job at any age; however, at age 16, students are allowed to work more hours. Because of this, many employers prefer to hire students who are at least 16 years old.
Do I need a work permit?
You do not need a work permit until you have applied for a job, completed an interview, and have been told you are hired. Apply for the job first, complete the interview, and then see Mr. Riche’.
Who can issue work permits if Mr. Riche’ is unavailable during the summer or holidays?
Monica Ochoa at the Madera Unified District Office on Howard Road is available during those times.
Do I need good attendance and grades to get a work permit?
Yes, students must have good attendance and satisfactory grades.
What is Work Experience?
Work Experience allows juniors and seniors to earn school credit for their jobs, as long as they work or volunteer at least 10 hours per week.
